Album Notes

"The Who meets Harry Potter....what's not to like?" - Richard Gere, The Village Voice

"Henry's House" is the double CD I wrote and recorded from January thru June, 2001....having taken a year away from music after my former band God Street Wine broke up.

God Street Wine (GSW), by the way, was together 10 years, toured the country countless times, signed 2 major label deals, released 6 CD's, and toured with the Black Crowes, the Allman Brothers, and the HORDE tour. We decided to disband in 1999 cause, well, 10 years was just about enough and it was time to do new stuff....

So this Henry's House thing is part of the "new stuff". It is a 2 CD (think I said that already) children's story/rock opera with a jam band sound. It is based around a slightly nonsensical fairy tale that hopefully will prove amusing to children and adults alike.....

There are some great musicians who I was lucky enough to have play on this -- members of the Ominous Seapods, and keyboardist Jason Crosby. The package is lavishly illustrated with scenes from the story by Syracuse NY artist Elliott Mattice.

UPDATE: In the summer of 2002 "Henry's House" became a fully realized rock musical on the stage of the Theater Company At Hubbard Hall here in Upstate New York. Since then director Kevin McGuire and I have been reworking the show and shopping it to producers and theaters, hoping to do another production.

Two years after releasing it I'm pretty happy with how "Henry's House" stands up. A few things don't quite work but there's a lot of good tunes, a lot of cool instrumental passages, and quite a bit of humor to make up for the rough edges. The sound and production are pretty smooth and the musicianship is first-rate.

So buy one now!
