Album Notes

New York City based saxophonist and composer Logan C. Richardson is a fresh new voice on the alto saxophone. His full, broad sound, wide intervallic leaps, along side of a dense harmonic approach are just the beginning of a description of Logan’s unique sound. Logan’s compositions encompass a whirlwind of different sounds and textures, pulling from various styles traditional and modern.


Logan has had the opportunity to work professionally with Joe Chambers, Stefon Harris, Carl Allen, Mulgrew Miller, Vic Juris, Greg Tardy, Nasheet Waits, Josh Roseman, George Garzone, Kevin Mahogany, Arthur Blythe, Myron Walden, Cyrus Chestnut, Chris Cheek, Javon Jackson, Eric McPherson, Bobby Watson, and James Carter. In January of 2005 Greg Osby presented Logan and his band as a part of the Greg Osby presents series at the jazz standard. Osby presented Logan as an “impressive new saxophone voice.”

Recently Logan recorded his debut album as a leader on Fresh Sound Records, due for release fall of 2006. Also, Logan recently recorded along side of jazz drummer great Joe Chambers on his album, “The Outlaw”, currently released spring of 2006 on Savant Records. Logan also just recorded along side of critically acclaimed tenor saxophonist Greg Tardy on his most recent album "Steps Of Faith"-Steeplechase Records(soon to be released)...
