Album Notes

"LOIDE, Live at the Bohemian Caverns” is a 12 track LP that takes you on a musical and cultural journey that can be enjoyed by everyone, it’s jazzy, it’s raw, and she reflects this new era of the “Afropolitian” representing for those of us that embrace the complexities of our cultures. Loide finds a way to intertwine the contemporary jazz ranges of Nancy Wilson with the soul of Cesaria Evora, as she eases back and forth from English to her native tongue, Portuguese offering with each track a unique sound and perspective.

Grown Folks Music!

Loide has a voice like thick mango juice - smooth sticky sweet with an intensity that might surprise you. She is a grown a$$ woman with a voice to prove it. CD favorite: Sade's "Stronger Than Pride" - It is not often you hear an "unknown" vocalist display the confidence & sense of self as a singer to make a well known song their own. Most just try to do the song like the original artist & hope you'll think they sound "just as good." Loide demonstrates a vocal maturity in that she knows her voice and sings the song in her voice - not Sade's. I hardly hear a Sade cover, and when I do, I groan and want to wash my ears out with soap. No one loves Sade like I do (we can fight over that claim!) and Loide's interpretation matches the EMOTION and INTENSITY of the original, in a sound that is distinctly her own. Don't sleep on her song writing skills either: Fallin' is a great example, among others. The musicians are RIDICULOUS and the live recording gives it a great organic feel. You WILL be transported by this new vocalist with a vibrato you feel in your chest who brings worlds and musical cultures together as if there were no sea separating them. So now, take your mouse, point your pointer at "buy cd," and CLICK!

Well put together

As a musician for over 30 years, this is a good cd! It's very well put together. The musicianship is good, and as a singer at a live show - Loide is very calm and controlled. Loide knows what she wants to do with the music. This is a cd to listen to after work, during dinner. It's very relaxing. Very nice!

LOVED IT!!!

Many albums today lack authenticity, flavor, and overall quality. This album has it all!!! Loide shows a distinct characteristic of an artist who is bringing something genuine and truly enjoyable to today's industry. She has great vocals and doesn't sound like all the other artists out there. Her soulful infusion of jazz, Afro-Portuguese beats and lyrics, original songs, and clever covers of old songs, and honesty are what makes this album a must have. She sings with an old soul and that is so refreshing. You must get this album people!!! I truly enjoyed her voice and songs and I'm looking forward to more!

"Musically Refreshing Album"
author: Kenny

I’ve really enjoyed listening to this album. Her sound is somewhat of a fusion of afro-reggae-portugese jazz and is very refreshing. The album content can complement many moods from conscious, sadness, love to celebratory and I’ve been able to enjoy it at any time of the day- morning, noon or evening. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Loide.
