My philosophy towards music is 'why try to be like everyone else when can create something original that no one has heard before'. Making music is something I enjoy doing and gives me a way to express myself. I am certainly grateful others enjoy my work but if I was stranded alone on an island I would still be playing my guitar and composing new music.
I've been playing guitar for over thirty years and have been composing nearly that long. When I first picked up a guitar all I wanted to do was learn how to play the blues. But soon I was learning all these jazz chords and substituting them in blues progressions. It wasn't long before I was buying jazz theory books and composing my tunes.
In about 1978 I heard an album by Al DiMeola called Elegant Gypsy and I was hooked on fusion. About the same time I heard some stuff from Tangerine Dream and was blown away by the synth sounds and trance like rhythms they were creating. But unfortunately all I had was a guitar so I stuck with jazz and fusion. In the early 80's I started a couple of New Wave bands and had a lot of fun but we never really went any where.
Then I got married and had a couple of kids so my music took a back seat. I wasn't until the early 90's when I bought a used Roland GR-707 that I really started to get back into my music. I bought a Atari ST and started laying down midi tracks using Cubase sequencing software. After the divorce in '93 I really started to get into my music a form of therapy. I bought some recording gear and created a lot of tunes which I started putting on mp3.com.
I joined a couple of bands but by then my heart was really in composing and production.
So I bought Fruity Loops, Band in a Box, Acid and some other software and that's what I use now. I like creating techno tracks and adding fusion guitar solos on top of them. I like to do it in a free form sort of way. Just start playing and see what happens, if any melodies get created I'll incorporate them into the piece by cutting and pasting. I don't however try to make everything perfect, and don't try to fix every imperfect note since I like the improvisational feel and the software generated tracks tend to sound too perfect.
I recently bought a Roland GR-20 and used it for some of the tracks here. I really like and I'll be using it a lot more.
I hope you enjoy,

The music really hit home. I felt entranced almost immediatly. I liked the mixture and the feel of the guitar over the tracks.

Very Interesting

Each track exposes a different aspect of the artist and his motivation. The tracks tend to get progressively more techno as your listen and the overall flavor of the CD is quite progressive and very intreging. An "A+" for his efforts.
