notes

The Lonely Jones is made up of sisters Jane and Lu Lu Jones, brother Bennie Jones, father Luther Jones, and cousins Midnight and Jimmie Jones. The music is rooted in Rock,Blues, Country, Cold Brews, the glow of the golden moon, and the crackle of the country campfire.

"So, while parts of the new CD, "The Life of the Lonely Jones," retain a distinctive, light-hearted, acoustic Potato Moon flavor, several tracks --"Morphine," "Moonlight," "Big Highway" -- venture into dramatic new territory with striking rock guitar leads by Midnight Jones (Mike Sullivan), pulsating, driving drumwork by Jimmie Jones (Jimmy Schultz), and Ben's dark lyrics and moody music." -- John Sinkevics ~ Grand Rapids Press

"This album is the folk members of Potato Moon looking into funhouse mirrors, shocked by their true identity. The music is moody, the lyrics are dark."

Jay Ridenfeller ~ MOJO Magazine

  • Diverse!
    author: Deborah Laxague

You know how with some albums, even if you love the first few songs, you're kind of bored by the end because it's all so very similar. Not a problem with this album! There's an wonderful variety of style, tempo, and voice and it's all such excellent music.

  • a celebration of harmony

In only takes one word to say what makes this CD fantastic ... vocals. The Joneses can SING!!! Complex harmonies overlay straightforward chordal forms and driving riffs, and the effect is both pleasant and chilling at the same time. Excellent music!!!

  • The best and most creative new thing I have heard since Big N Rich!

  • Dark and Moody
    author: Sam Ridge

Don't be fooled by the opening country rock tracks on this album, for it takes a dark and twisted turn. Epic songs "Big Highway" and "Morphine" reveal this bands deeper, darker musical styles. Some tracks are downright scary, like the nightmares you enjoy having. Keep it coming. ~ Sam Ridge Lincoln, Nebraska

Sometimes, you cannot pinpoint what you are listening to, but you just know that it's there. This album brings you full circle into the equations that baffle us in everyday circumstances. The harmonies, the guitar riffs, the lyrics; it leaves you wanting more. Who is this band?
