Rousing, energetic and enthusiastic
author: Joe Ross
This Vermont-based group covers much ground with Celtic, Old-Time and even a Cajun selection. While rather standard repertoire is chosen, their presentation is rousing, energetic and enthusiastic. I’m sure that they are well received at restaurants, pubs, fairs and festivals throughout New England. While they offer up a few sets of reels, the album is weighted heavier towards lyrical songs and melodic ballads. The band features 3 lead vocalists (Dan Blondin, Gerry Feenan, and Patrick McKenzie) who each bring their own personality to chosen songs such as Arthur McBride, Riley’s Daughter, and The Mermaid. The rest of the band includes Matt Bean, Marshall Paulsen, and Scott McGrath. Their arsenal of instruments includes guitar, mandolin, bodhran, bouzouki, fiddle, banjo, spoons, mandolin and bass. Longford Row is a spunky band that shows a lot of promise, and this CD is a welcome treat for all their fans, family and friends. I appreciate their passion for this type of music, as well as their desire to keep it vibrant and alive. (Joe Ross)
