ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lon DuQuette made his professional debut at 14, topped the charts in the sixties and recently returned to the studio after a twenty five year hiatus. Gentle Heretic is his third collection released on Ninety Three Records and continues the eclectic tradition of fun and philosophy established by his first two albums.

Gentle Heretic covers a wide range of musical genres and styles, from acoustic folk to shredding metal, but with the inimitable DuQuette style and wit that marks all of his work. Nostalgia, reincarnation, quantum theory, faith, love and death all make their appearance, sometimes in earnest, sometimes with a sly wink.

Music for your head and your heart, meant to be listened to. A timeless collection that transcends trends. Enjoy!

Gentle Heretic does it again...
Brilliant new album that builds further on the previous CD's bringing a well balanced variety of sound. As alway accompanied by witty lyrics that offer food for thought... Not really a surprise the song "Bernice" ended up as the winner in a recent online contest. The nicest surprise is the song "Paid All the Dues" which rocks your socks off with Bob Boulding of the Young Dubliners on guitar!
Am already looking forward to what the Gentle Heretic comes up with next... a job well done!

Best Lon Yet
From the haunting melody of Two Copper Pennies...to the perfection of Bernice... to the rocking Paid All the Dues,
this album is a must have!

Surprising Range
I enjoyed both of Lon's previous releases with 93 Records, but who knew he could rock out like he does on Paid All the Dues? I really like the way he stands his ground on this track, while he continues his mastery of more traditional singer-songwriter fare on tracks like Outside the Box, Bernice, and Class Warfare. Another stand-out track, If We Believed, is hilarious for fellow heretics, but might not be as well received by, well, those who do believe. Lon has a great voice, plays a fine guitar, and connects with the material and the listener. Highly recommended.
