Looptron is a latter day one man band hailing from London, England. Using nothing more than geeky ingenuity and minimal hardware he writes and performs live electro pop hacked together on-the-fly from real time sampled vocals, sliced up guitars and re-fried beats. No-one knows why.
Although the idea had been gestating in the back of his brain for a couple of years it took the combination of being fired from his job as the guitarist in a successful electro band (for being "too guitar-y") and a random gig offer coming in on exactly the same hazy summer day in late 2007 to galvanise him into action. He immediately went out purchased a brown pinstripe jazz suit (with pink lining), fired up the machinery in his lab and set to work applying the ultimate D.I.Y. ethos to the project. No band. No management. No labels. No f**king arguments. A single very hectic month later the first results were inflicted on an appreciative audience. The pace hasn't really let up since.
Armed on stage with nothing more than a large laptop, a small electric guitar and advanced software simulation of disco kits, ugly synthesisers and antique tape delay pedals he plys his trade bringing gloriously dense, FX-drenched, looped and layered synthetic songs to the world.
Plus it means he can take the bus to gigs.
