Album Notes

CD Release Italian Music Lorenzo Buhne's "Sotto Sopra" Lorenzo Buhne is a musician who crosses many musical genres, and continents- from classic American punk rock to 16th Century Italian ballads. Born in Italy, his family migrated to Sydney when Lorenzo was a teenager. There he learned bass guitar, and toured extensively throughout Australia, Viet Nam and Singapore. Next, he was off to Los Angeles, playing with legendary punk bands FEAR and the Dickies and performing on bills with such notable acts as Devo, Jane's Addiction, The Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Iggy Pop, The Ramones, Green Day, Tiny Tim and many more. Lorenzo has toured the States and Europe extensively, and his various bands and solo work have made the top 10 charts in Japan, England, and Argentina. He's composed songs for Hollywood films, a ballet, an art installation. In the 90's Lorenzo turned his attention to producing. No matter what he plays and where he travels, Lorenzo takes his Italian roots with him, he continues to play both new and traditional Italian music, only now has he begun to put some of his work on record. His new CD "Sotto Sopra" is a modern record that incorporates pop, rock, sampled beats, as well as mandolins, strings, and primitive Mediterranean instruments. Recorded in Wellington after the arrival of his first child, and using Italian lyrics composed by his father, this CD is a family album that reflects cultures past as well as the new cultures being created in New Zealand. The record includes local notables guest appearances. For more information, contact Lorenzo Buhne at lorenzobuhne@hotmail.com

Absolutely Fantastic!
author: Dave Beck
Having seen Lorenzo performing with The Dickies many year ago i was really interested to see what he was doing nowadays. Google searched and found this little gem. Played the samples and bought it! i know not a word of Italian, (ok, Ciao!), but musically this CD is just so well produced and arranged. i love the mixture of the traditional and the more modern tracks. Lorenzo's voice is just great. he has a huge range and there is so much passion and emotion in what he is singing about. Not what i expected from a guy who used to perform in stripey tights and devil horns. But that was a long time ago and i am glad that this very talented artist has had the opportunity to release a solo CD.

Being Italian myself and listening to many italian artists, Lorenzo music is beautifull. Its warm, relaxing and well balanced. He has taken old songs and changing them with a nice blue and jazz beat. Great job. vince
