Lórien's follow-up album, "Waterline" is now available. Building on the work of her first album, this release includes songs with additional instrumentation, as well as acoustic and even a capella pieces.
An ongoing saga that started on the album 'Quest' with the songs 'Rorik & The Edge of the World' and 'Desert Wind'; is continued on this album with the songs 'Wind's Four Quarters', 'Gypsy Princess', 'For Love & Beauty', 'Ladies of the Rose', and 'Waterline'.

LINER NOTES
-----------
This album is for all of you who kept bugging me about when the next one would be out. Finally... Two years later, here it is! And of course for Sarah, who put up with being kicked out of the room repeatedly, whenever I needed to record in silence, and who listened to countless versions of the same songs. Thanks for being patient, darlin'.
Sarah also had a hand in the concept and development of half these songs. Specifically: Wind's Four Quarters, For Love & Beauty, Ladies of the Rose, Bearer of the Crown, and Gypsy Princess.
Wind's Four Quarters and Gypsy Princess continue the on-going and seemingly ever growing Star Crown Saga (aka that Rorik & Karina stuff...), and Bearer of the Crown is a concurrent story. I hadn't intended to put Gypsy Princess on this CD, but people kept asking for it, so.... However, I did place it last, because it is an epic. Yes folks, a record even for me. A full twelve minutes long. So for theose of you that wanted it, here it is. For the rest of you, I put it last, so you can skip it if you want to. ;-)
Thanks for listenting.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
-----------------
I'm putting up this on-line songbook for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, I've had requests for the lyrics to the songs, and this is the easiest way to distribute them. I had wanted to include the lyrics in the liner notes of the CD, but the cost of printing a full booklet made this the more practical option.
Second, I've had a number of SCA folks ask me if they could perform my more medieval/fantasy themed pieces at Bardic Circles. My answer to them was, 'Certainly, provided of course that proper credit is given.' Now I don't read music, so I couldn't put a full-on score on the web, but I thought that having the lyrics and guitar chords provided might make that a little bit easier. I've done the best I can with chord names and chord charts, but when in doubt listen to the CD and go with what you hear. Since I'm entirely self taught and play mostly by ear, there may be some errors in my notation.
As for the Star Crown Saga, it all started off inocently enough, when Sarah and I sat down to write a couple of songs for some people we'd met. However, it has since grown into its own entity, and may end up being a series of novels, as well as more songs than I had ever planned. If you're interested, here is a chronolgy of the extant songs:

Even better than the first!
author: Edwin R Hunt
I first heard Lorien's music live several years ago, where my wife bought her first CD. Both of our copies are scratched and worn, so I was glad to find it available online here! Her Star Crown Saga links a number of the songs together in an ongoing story told in widely separated chapters. Tolkein's influence is very strong in the theme, but Lorien makes Rorik uniquely her own. The other tracks vary from Waterline's full accompaniment to the simple a capella lament of Grounded. Fantastic music that focuses on the artist's beautiful voice and her instruments.
