Album Notes

The theme of the album 'Glasven' is the Scottish countryside and the songs and poems of Robert Burns. Lori Hartbarger composed all the music on this album, in a traditional style, apart from two tracks which have traditional tunes. This album is entirely acoustic, and along with the vocals there is acoustic guitar, flute and mandolin as accompaniment.

Glasven evokes a timeless mixture of sounds, images and feelings;redolent of mossy mountains, peat and heather, lochs and glens, misty mornings and a cosy fireside.

This is a completely handcrafted project, with Lori doing everything on this album; the vocals, all the instrumentation, recording, mixing and the album cover art. She has been making home recordings for years, and has just created a brand new website for her recordings and art, Thistle Cottage Recordings.

This is timeless music that's true to the spirit of traditional Scottish music.

This is a wonderful album by Lori Hartbarger, it is very atmospheric and very evocative of the highlands, we took the album on a trip to scotland and the music formed a beautiful background to our journey, I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys traditional music.
