"Once we start where will we end …when we dance in the wind!” Lori Young’s latest CD and personal life can be phrased up in this line from her new musical masterpiece, “DANCE IN THE WIND.” The amazing fresh, soulful sound of this Montana native is here as she is releasing her NINTH album.
This lady from the US, recorded 2 albums in Nashville, then her family flew away to work in Spanish speaking countries in the area of humanitarian service for the next sixteen years.
It's natural that as Lori has spent so much of her life in "serving others," that her music would continue with that heart. Once living in Spanish speaking countries, since music is her love language, she had to learn to speak, AND write songs for her new countrymen. Three more albums were finished in Spanish and then as English versions!
Lori had her own radio show called, “La Mujer De Montana,” (The lady from Montana!) She was quite the rarity as she was the only foreigner invited to sing in her city’s Flamenco festivals, flamenco songs that she had written that even Spaniards were impressed with! Not only did she do concerts in Spanish, she became a breath of fresh air to the international community. One high-light was being the key performer at a gala at the Crystal Palace with high ranking politicians of Madrid present.
Life seemed to stop when Lori and her husband faced the reality it was time to settle back in Montana. These were years filled with great struggle to get on their feet, start new employments in completely new fields, and move to a small Montanan town(consider the change from living in Madrid, Spain!)
This is why, “Dance in the Wind,” is an incredible album. It especially speaks to those of us who have lived long enough to know what’s it’s like to have the wind knocked out of us, BUT, want to keep dancing!
