Album Notes

Lorna Miller is a life-long musician and singer who early on focused on interpreting the music she loved vocally and
on the guitar. Country blues played a big role in her slide guitar playing and artists like Memphis Minnie, Furry Lewis
and Leadbelly led the way.
"Music has always been at the center of my life along with my family, Lorna says. Early influences my mother and my grandmother, both singers, though not professional, inspired me from birth.
Later on, it was Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and all the great songwriters of the twentieth century.
Joan Baez, Tim Hardin, John Prine, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and today, Tom Waits, Texas songwriters
like Guy Clark. Dave Alvin, Chris Gaffney, writers, musicians and singers, who grow, interpret and inspire. Bonnie Raitt was my first inspiration on the slide and then I returned to the old blues players. Emmy Lou Harris always inspires.
I write a lot of songs now and feel their artistry and inspiration each time I begin.
My children are all working musicians and songwriters in their own genres, carrying on what we've been given by those who came before. I love good writing and I love the honesty of a fine singer. I want to honor those who inspired me and honor the gifts. If I can do as well or half as well, I'll be a happy woman."
