Scottish (UK) singer Lorna Reid, has launched her debut album Gypsy In My Soul, a CD of jazz and blues standards, with influences including Anita O\'Day, Peggy Lee, Nina Simone and Nora Jones. Described by The List Magazine as \"cool and classy\", Lorna\'s album features a stellar line up including Paul Kirby (piano), Ed Kelly (bass), Keith Haldane (drums), Ant Law (guitar) and BBC Jazz Award winning trumpeter Colin Steele.

After years as a singer working in genres from folk and country to classical, Lorna started to focus on developing her jazz career. You can hear the cross over of these influences in the country-feel of Turn Me On, or the clarity of tone in Reid’s voice in tunes such as Just One of Those Things.

Produced in collaboration with pianist and composer Paul Kirby (who is currently studying in New York) Gypsy In My Soul is a collection of tunes that reflect the different moods and styles of Reid’s repertoire, which ranges from dark and bluesy Black Coffee, to kick-ass tempos as featured on I Get A Kick Out of You. Each tune is performed from a place of experience that brings an authentic presence to the vocals and musical arrangements.

The album has been picked up by leading venues such as London\'s Ronnie Scotts and receiving radio play on UK jazz stations. But the gypsy wants to wander further, which is why we are signing up with CD Baby.
