Album Notes

Lorne Ryder is a Toronto born singer-songwriter with many stories left to tell.

Over the past 20 years Lorne's music has taken him across Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec as well as Nashville, Tennessee. He has been nominated for 3 top-ten nominations for CCMA (Canadian Country Music Awards) keyboard player of the year in 2004, 2005 & 2006. Lorne has played on recordings along side Wendall Ferguson, Jeff Healey and Gary Craig (Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.) In 2006, Lorne played on the country song, "Mistletoe, My Cowboy and Me" by Judy Kanyo. The song spent 6 weeks at number 1 on the European Country Charts and was nominated for ECMA song of the year.

Lorne first started singing and songwriting in the mid-eighties with the band "First and Last," a rock band he co-founded. The band toured for 4 years and produced 2 albums, the second being co-produced by New York born producer Bob Gallo (Ben E. King, James Brown.) After the split of "First and Last," Lorne toured for 2 years in the mid-nineties as part of a top 40/rock duo.

Upon his return home, Lorne started putting together material for his solo record featuring country and folk influenced material. After receiving a FACTOR grant in 1998, Lorne was able to start production on his debut solo album, "Ice Cream and Guns." The title track was co-written by Lorne, Naiose Sheridan (Kenny Chesney, Jason McCoy) and Toronto writer/producer Peter Linseman (Donna Ferra & Melanie Joy.)

Recently, Lorne took time off from his solo act to do session work as well as play in various bands to work on his keyboard and harmonica skills, and of course, he has continued songwriting. In 2007, Lorne was nominated for an Ontario Independent Music Award for Best Country Artist. He is now back with his band working on new material and gearing up to hit the road again.

REVIEWS

One of my favorite new Canadian CDs
author: Sara Nash
Lorne Ryder's first solo cd really has made it into my top-ten list of favorite cds. Every song creates a picture and tells a different story. There isn't one song I have to skip past when I throw this cd on. (By the way, the title song, Ice Cream and Guns is a cool political stab.) Awesome music, meaningful lyrics -- check this Canadian singer/songwriter out!!!!!!!
