Album Notes

Love, Anna is a four-piece band born and raised in the city of toronto, canada. Three friends of varied artistic temperament and musical taste began playing together in the early part of the century with no purpose other than to pass the time. Enamored with the fin de siècle post rock achievements of Yo La Tengo, Mogwai and so many others, they began to dabble in slow-burn groove-based instrumentals and off kilter 4/4 rockers.

With the addition of a drummer, songs found structure, began to coalesce and soon a distinctive sound was discovered. The material was raw to be sure, but always aspired towards a certain beauty, that intangible, elusive thing that if
pressed the band itself could not describe; maybe it would be best to call it pixie dust. But instead of flying off to Neverland, a path which had led so many a Def Leppard astray, the group chose to stay grounded and toil within
the boundaries of DIY obscurity.

With the positive feedback from a four song ep of live recordings (released under the name Audible) the band turned it’s attention to the studio. Under the guiding hand of producer John Hornak (All I See Is Red, Avenue One)
they began work on what would become a seven song album and at long last christened themselves Love, Anna, a name inspired by a mutual friend’s email send off. That record is now ready for release and the band stands poised to
spark the ears, hearts and minds of all who listen.

Ultimately, for the four people who comprise Love, Anna experience is something to be gained, not relied upon, virtuosity is not always obvious and having an
agenda only subverts the happy accidents and surprises that life keeps in store for us.

There's something that makes them in some ways even more enticing than the status quo (Mogwai, EITS, GY!BW, Mono, etc)--they bring the same mood without the sudden explosion, by design, of course, and they do it with a sort of musical confidence that is comforting. Here, come along with us, friend, and we will teach you to see the beauty in the Universe, and you won't even have to expend adrenaline to do it!
