Christina Rossetti’s lyrical “Sonnet #7” also known as, “Love Me for I Love You” reflects a long-distance love affair. This sonnet, from Rossetti’s collection, Monna Innominata is much like Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s Sonnets from the Portuguese, as they both veil their own personal love stories. The final line, “Yet love is strong as death,” indicates that although Rossetti never married, there was an unquenchable fire within her heart. The contemporary soft rock instrumentals modernize this classic sonnet. This single is from the Sonnet Love Songs album.
