LOVESPIRALS SINGLE, "LOVE," FEATURED ON CD BABY MUSIC DISCOVERY PODCAST 6/15/2010!

'Future Past,' Lovespirals’ 4th full-length album, is a career-defining synthesis of the band’s vast musical influences into a fresh new electronica sound. This captivating 11 track set by multi-instrumentalist/producer, Ryan Lum, and vocalist/lyricist, Anji Bee, contains their strongest songwriting to date, with an attention to detail in recording quality and production that is unmatched in the duo’s decade-long history. As the title suggests, Lovespirals have melded the contemporary with the classic; embracing the past, but with an eye towards the future.

Lovely album opener, “Home,” happily welcomes the band’s return to electronica from their previous Dream Pop release, 'Long Way From Home.' This track, along with the gorgeously melancholic “Shine,” and epic album-closer, “Believe,” are bittersweet electro-pop gems in the vein of early Air or Zero 7, with lazy beats, lush arrangements, and Bee’s honeyed vocals. But Lum’s masterful guitar work sets the band apart from their contemporaries, bringing the rhythm and lead playing of a classic rock artist to a largely computer-based genre.

It’s the magical combination of Lum’s soulful guitar and Bee’s sumptuous vocal harmonies that is the cornerstone of Lovespirals’ unique signature sound. With a subtle yet powerful mix of musical moods and emotional expressions, 'Future Past' is sure to enchant both old and new listeners for years to come.

ADDITIONAL ALBUM INFO:

The album’s first single, “Shine,” was featured as the Track of the Day in Alternative Pop on Garageband.com the first week of release. It also garnered the Best Female Vocals in Alt Pop award for 2 separate weeks. “Shine” was also featured on the front page of TheSixtyOne, having been “bumped up” via listener selection. Additionally, “Shine” has been featured on a number of podcasts including Dave’s Lounge, XtraChill, Indie Music Sampler, The Mothpod, Cadence Revolution, and Bee’s own popular weekly chillout music podcast, The Chillcast with Anji Bee.

“Home” was the second single released from ‘Future Past,’ this time in video format. Bee herself created the music video, utilizing skills gained from producing her monthly music vidcast, Chillcast Video. The band filmed the video footage themselves on a Mino HD camcorder, some of which was shot during their road trip to master ‘Future Past’ at the home studio of renowned ambient musician, Robert Rich.

Lovespirals are set to release their 3rd single, “Love,” in June of 2010. The ‘Love EP’ will contain remixes by a variety of indie artists including Chill Factor-5, Divasonic, Xurba, 7 Day Visa (whom Bee collaborated with on 1 track for the ‘Buenos Aires’ release due out soon), Falling You (whom Bee collaborated with on 1 track for their upcoming 5th album), and former Projekt Records labelmate, Soul Whirling Somewhere -- who previously produced a lavish remix of “This Truth” from Lovespirals’ prior album, 'Long Way From Home.'

An amazing release showcasing the bands musical evolution
author: KeiferB

The latest release from Southern California’s Lovespirals, ‘Future Past’ marks an evolution in this duo’s sound and style, without losing the elements that have made them a musical gem that should be a part of everyone’s collection. Still keeping old fans happy with several tracks that echo the sound of their previous releases musician Ryan Lum and vocalist/lyricist Anji Bee are not afraid to not simply reply on what has worked for them in the past, but with this latest release they use the sounds of the past to take them to new musical heights. Once again Ryan Lum lays down a wonderful bed of sound, but this time dips back with retro sounding keyboards, and guitar work that goes from delicate to passionate, from blues to jazz and even channelling the spirit of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour he takes you on a musical journey you will not want to end. Meanwhile Anji Bee show off her growing vocal and lyrical prowess both in range and styles, from introspective on ‘Home’, sultry ‘ Feel So Good’, ethereal ‘Love’, angst filled ‘Insignificant’ along with her foundation of chill, jazz and blues. In some respects ‘Future Past’ is an album that is literally two releases in one, by opening with tracks that show off the bands evolving sound and willingness not to simply reply on what has worked in the past, but to take their sound and allow it to evolve and grow in new direction and territory, before the wonderful instrumental ‘Meanwhile, Irreplaceable Time Flees’ heralds a shift from that point to take things in a Pink Floyd sounding direction, but with a definite Lovespirals touch and sound. ‘Future Past’ once again shows Lovespirals are a rare musical gem that people need to discover and add to their collection.

Sexy, moody, bluesy, ethereal – pure Lovespirals

I always know how much I like an album by how I feel when I’m driving to it…. And from the unforgettable chorus on Shine, to Anji Bee’s sultry vocal cadences on tracks such “Feels So Good”, “Love” & “Rain”, to the stunning guitar riffs, rhodes, and instrumentation by Ryan Lum on “Meanwhile, Irreplaceable Time Flees” & “One Of These Days”, The Lovespirals latest cd, FuturePast is easily one of the best chill out albums to welcome in 2010. The album is sexy, moody, bluesy, ethereal – pure Lovespirals. Though the cd is full of memorable tracks, my personal favorites are, “Believe, Insignificant, “Love” & “Meanwhile, Irreplaceable Time Flees”. I couldn’t recommend an album more highly to start off the New Year.

Sexy, Jazzy Downtempo

Without a doubt, this is the best album Lovespirals has put out. And that’s saying a lot. I can tell already that “Feel So Good” is going to wear a groove into my iTunes. The vocal work on "Shine" is stellar, and the lyrics to "Believe" and "Sinking" speak to right where I am right now—and I bet I'm not the only one. Listening to this album, I feel transported to a rainy night on Frenchman Street in New Orleans. It’s got an indy jazz band feeling going on in spades, but that feeling is reached by way of the dream-pop/downtempo/slow-and-sexy musicality that Lovespirals does so well.
