Produced by Sal Maida and Frank Carillo, vocal & guitar: Lisa Burns, bass: Sal Maida
"Burns rings as true as a church bell."
"...a vocal beauty"
"In 'Jolene' Dolly Parton's edgy ode to female rivalry, Burns is powerful and moving, reverberating with raw emotion."
"A rare cd that offers a wide variety of alternative country..."
-Stacy Albin

In Lisa's words:
While Sal and I were signed to MCA Music publishing, our trips to Memphis to work with local legend Jack Holder, proved artisically successful enough for Val Garay to record two of our songs for Sarah Brightman's lp entitled "As I Came of Age." (we had the title cut)
The Lovin' Kind, a musical exploration in roots music, was born from those trips to Memphis. We performed with a revolving group of talented musicians including Dave Schramm, Frank Carillo and Annie Golden. This loose configuration of friends and pickers deconstructed classics such as Dolly Parton's "Jolene." I performed until my sixth month of pregnancy then continued to record up until my ninth month. After our son Dylan was born, he too, joined us at our sessions, sleeping in the control-room.
"Along the Way" paid tribute to traditional country songform with inspiration provided by way of June Carter-Cash, Bill Monroe, The Louvin' Brothers and Willie Nelson's "Redheaded Stranger."
Always, I have sought to express myself the one way I know how; my voice. It seems that is the single thread that runs throughout my patch-work of a career.
