The Lake Placid Sinfonietta is a professional Chamber orchestra that performs in and around the Adirondack Village of Lake Placid, NY during July and August. Concerts are given at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, outdoors in Mid's Park on the shore of Mirror Lake, and in neighboring communities. Founded in 1917, this unique ensemble is comprised of twenty of the best classical musicians from around the country, many of whom are soloists in their own right. Currently the orchestra includes members of the Alabama Symphony, Delaware Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Tucson Symphony, and the Quad City Symphony.
Adirondack Holidays was recorded in 2001 under the baton of Alfred Gershfeld who was then Artistic Director/Conductor of the orchestra. This CD of winter themed and holiday music features orchestral selections and three selections with soloist Nancy Davis Booth, soprano. Ms Booth, a frequent Guest Artist with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta has appeared in concert around the country with several orchestras including the Tucson Symphony, St. Louis Symphony and Detroit Symphony.
