Had to give this album a listen after seeing them live in Tonawanda, NY, recently. Simple, clean, lovely. Harkens back to earlier times, nostalgic. The songs on this album alternately have teeth, dust, and an occasional peacock tail feather. Shiny and hopeful.

I never expected that an album to restore my faith in country music would come out of Allegany County, and I could not be happier about it. Maybe Beave and them can save country from the depths of the popular mainstream and bring it together with its true brothers, Blues and Rock&Roll. 'Into the Sea' works Zeppelin-powered rock poetry into a steady country beat, and that is just some substandard description I came up with (you need to hear it for yourself). I can't handle trying to write like a real review too much, so I won't do it, the music rocks and it floats like a lyrical soul. If LeRoy or one of the boys reads this, they should think about stopping by Better Days in wonderful Wellsville, NY - not far from Jefferson Street.

Highlights: Country Visions, which reminds me of the free-association rants Dylan did so well back when he was suffering from Subterranean Homesick Blues, and Song About Life, which manages to make disillusionment sound like the path to enlightment. Not too many surprises, but no disappointments, either.
