Album Notes

Luba Dvorak \" Parts for Sale\"

\"It seems to me I\'m always one record ahead of myself. When I finish making one I already have an idea what the next one will be like. I had a bunch of songs that didn\'t fit the band and after my solo acoustic tour of Europe in the winter of 2001, I realized that I needed to make a record like \"Parts for Sale.\" These songs were mostly written on the road somewhere between Vancouver, Amsterdam, Prague, Las Vegas and LA. I did a lot of touring last year and we recorded these songs in between tours at home in Vancouver. This was the first recording I\'ve done that\'s all live-off-the-floor and will only record that way from now on. Everybody just got together at the studio in Vancouver, Allan (producer) threw up some mic\'s and pressed the record button. Kenny Aronoff (Mellencamp, Bob Dylan) played drums on half of it and as usual it was unreal to work with him again. He really makes you play better. It was also great to have Dave Reimer, Robbie Steininger, Pete Baroni, Scott Smith and Mike Norman along.... Thanx Guys! - Luba, May 2003.

Luba Dvorak was born in Brno, Czech Republic. The son of a blacksmith father and factory-working mother immigrated with his parents and brother to Canada at the age of seven, after spending a year in Austria. Music was always in the family, Luba\'s father was a well respected musician in the Czech Republic, and a few steps down the family tree will show that Luba is a descendent of the famous composer Antonin Dvorak.

\"I remember as a kid going on many camping trips with my family. My dad would play bluegrass and country tapes in the van and I guess I soaked those things up, and couldn\'t help but be influenced by them. The first concert my dad took me to was Willie Nelson & Family so that explains a lot\"

\"Parts for Sale\" was self released in May 2003 to great critical praise and has kept Luba busy. He\'s begun work on his next project and is currently living in New York City working on his next release scheduled for this fall.

The Boss is Back... His vocals are pure, intense, and emotional, sounding better than they have in years. . It is easy to see the maturity set in.As he has evolved his sound for a new musical climate without forgetting the elements that defined his sound when he first started out on this journey. . The album showcases very solid guitar work, including some incredibly roaring solos and leads from Luba himself, wailing away on his Telecaster. There are a wide variety of songs represented here, as well as many different musical styles. There are straight up rockers, more laid back ballads, some excellent slide guitars, and even some middle eastern sounds reminiscent of recent work by Steve Earl . The album is filled with songs of loss and redemption, friendships and hardships. This skillful blending of emotions fills the music with added sense of reality that makes it that much more meaningful. This is a real man with real emotions that people can relate to. , . , and abilty to relate to the feeling of everyday people and thats what drew myself and many others to listen to his music. Give this album a try. I really do think it's a powerful album from a man who gives his all. Hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as I do.

I met Luba while visiting NYC and he gave me a copy of the CD, while driving home back to Indiana the CD was in my player the entire trip home. It was addicting almost, and really hit home. The lyrics are real and obviously straight from the heart. A great new artist with an amazing capability to touch the hearts of anyone whoe loves a fabulous voice with an acoustic guitar. Cant wait to see him live again in Chicago!
