In the 32 years since the release of his debut album, connoisseurs and assorted in-the-know types have spoken his name with the utmost hushed reverence.
His seamless melding of jazz, R&B, Caribbean rhythms and Brazilian music proved to be a decisive early influence on what would be simplified and marketed as the twin formats of "quiet storm" and "smooth jazz," although very few artists working in either format aproach Lucien's level of artistry or innovation, not to mention originality.
He never resorts to overly dramatic crescendos of volume to build artifical climaxes. Rather than assault the listener with phony intensity, Lucien invites his listeners closer to share the experience. The only label that does this justice is "Good Music."

Paradise and tropical warmth aplenty
author: Barry Towler ("The Lowdown" - Soul Express Online)
A new set from this gentleman is an EVENT. Hot on the heels of his "Lucien Romantico" comes this excellent CD which sees Jon return to his roots with an exhilarating blend of Afro-Caribbean, Jazz and classical. First rate vocals, kindred performances from his band and the promise of warm climate, sandy beaches, optimism and love. Not to be missed.
