Lucio Menegon is a guitarist, composer and sonic artist. He performs in varied collaborative and improvisational situations and as sideman and colorist to traditional songwriters and performers. Lucio's style centers around the creative use of melody and dynamics, combining the judicious use of effects, live looping and found sound to sufficiently mangle a rock ‘n’ roll, blues, country, punk and experimental background. Influences range from the extremely sparse to the truly damaged to the heavily melodic.
Lucio's new CD, 'Soundtrack Instrumentals - Music for Driving and Film' explores his compositional side, featuring multi-instrumental, cinematic textures and includes all of the music from the award winning short, La Vie d'un Chien.
Lucio is represented over 25 recorded releases and has collaborated and performed with Glenn Branca, Moe! Staiano, Mark De gli Antoni, Suki O'Kane, Anton Barbeau, Myles Boisen, Laurie Amat, Jon Brumit, Dan Olmsted, Carla Kihlstedt, Gunnar Madsen, Matt Davignon, Luca Miti, Val Esway, Ross Hammond, Mark Growden, Polly Moller, etc.
Film projects include a live score to La Ent'ract by Rene Clair at the 2005 Music on Film Festival in Prague, CZ, score for La Vie d'un Chien (2005) by John Harden as well as live and composed scores for the Overdub Club, Thad Povey, Alphonso Alvarez and the Cinepimps. His work has appeared at the SF International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival and the SF Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
