Album Notes

Howdy Folks,

The new CD is finally here! Folk Paw is the combined effort of 2 producers, 19 musicians, and 4 composers. I am proud of this work, and I hope you can find something here to make you smile!

Lucius Terwilliger is a band name which describes the loose conglomeration of musicians who signed on to help fulfill the musical vision of Ken Langford, while adding their own special flavors. Most of us have known each other for years. We have worked together over the last year or so (with some work going back as far as the fall of 2002) to create this second CD offering for your enjoyment.

There are a wide variety of musical styles on display here. The more straight ahead folk sound can be found in Cosmic 2 x 4, Anthracite, Not Here Now, Dona Dona & Protest Song. You can find a taste of country in One Last Night & How Many Hearts A Day. Time Is Not Money has something closer to a rock feel, and Foul Wind is quite a heavy folk rock track indeed! Unsettled has a more jazzy feel, and Faithful To Your Pain (the Penalty Track) is... it has... well, edgy might be an understatement for this one.

A word about the Penalty Track. Many CDs you will find incorporate the so-called Bonus Track. For a new CD, this is something of a marketing ploy, as you never could get the CD without it. True bonus tracks are for re-issues, if you ask me. My idea for a Penalty Track is a kind of anti-bonus track. I'd never seen one before. Once I had the idea, the question became "what would a penalty track sound like?" I searched my material and came up with one which seemed to fit the bill. Furthermore, I am holding back any sample clips of the song, so you have to pay to hear it. That's DOUBLE the penalty for your money! I think it is safe to say we offer a stiffer penalty, dollar for dollar, than the competition.

Finally there is Another Bush, my gut response to the re-election of George W. Bush. I am not a political pundit, and I hope this song does not drag me in that direction. I am a songwriter (amongst other things), and this is the song that came out of me following the election. One guy's honest response to world events. If you don't like it, write your honest song and get it out there! Go free speech!

Throughout much of this recording I have tried to interject a sense of fun and humor. My hope would be that this comes through the music and the words.

Thanks for reading this, and I hope you can find some fun in our creative vision!

Ken is a good lyricist, a smart, funny and clever guy. If you don't believe me, click on a few of his songs and see for yourself. Do it now.

Lucius strikes again. From funny and clever to thoughtful and sentimental, Lucious has once again created a very entertaining album of songs. There are a variety of styles here that make the album interesting to listen to and infact, my whole family loves to listen to this cd. Some of the songs are so catchy, we've played them over and over again, sharing them with friends, etc... There are some great lines in the lyrics that get humorously stuck in your head. Some of our favorites songs are: Time is Not Money, Fish Blues, Another Bush and How Many Hearts. A great album. I highly recommnend it!!
