I have been waiting a long time for Erika Luckett to offer a cd like "Yaxche Live!"  I received it in the mail, put it into the cd player in my car, and there it remains, in constant, perpetual play.  I never get tired of it, because I discover new little details every time I hear it.

Anyone who has experienced an Erika Luckett performance knows all about her technical mastery, her sultry, buttery voice, her heart wrenching (or heart lifting) way to meld  lyrics and melody and rhythm together - her beautiful spirit.  

The thing with a live performance, though, is that it flies by in real time (always, always, too quickly)...so, while we get a good sense of her musicianship, it's a moment in time that passes, leaving only a great feeling and fond memory of that shared experience.  

Well, with this live recording, I am awestruck all over again - because I can play and replay...and am just bowled over by her crisply flawless guitar work.  I find myself hitting "rewind", asking, "Did she just do xyz?" - to find that she sure enough did.  It's like experiencing her work through a whole new lens.  Dang - she is just amazing.

I read the other reviews here, and hear the hooting and hollering in between tracks on this cd, and am reminded that I'm in good company when I say "You just have to experience Erika live...there's no way to describe her that does her justice."  

I've introduced several friends and family members to her work by bringing them to live performances - but that's not always easy when hundreds of miles separate us from our loved ones.  And now, for those cases where we can't enjoy a performance together....we have Yaxche Live.

I've had the pleasure of hearing Erika's live shows several times, and while I love her other recordings (autographed after her performances!), I have yet to feel the uniqueness her interaction with the audience captured so clearly.  There's a power in how she expresses her music.  It's hard to describe if you haven't experienced it in person.  What I love about "Yaxche Live" is that I feel that magic, that power.  It takes me back to the live concerts I have been able to see and if I close my eyes, I feel  like she's right in my living room singing directly and only to me.  What a gift!  Thank you, Erika, for offering us this treasure!

Listening to Yaxche Live brings a huge smile to my face every time...It is as if Erika Luckett is right here in my living room playing her incredible music.  I have been waiting for a live CD from Erika and Yaxche Live has captured her magic on CD, so I can hear it again and again.  What a great CD!! Thank you.
