Album Notes

Produced by Deep Elm recording artist David Singer and released on Lost in America Music, the debut CD from The Lucky Ones weaves two songwriting voices and elements of pop, rock, soul and country into a single, cohesive musical fingerprint.

Both the album and the band itself are the culmination of a longtime collaboration between songwriters Rob Brookman and Dave Kay, who began performing as a duo in 1995. After several years honing their songs and their sound, the pair tapped three veteran Chicago musicians - Brian Anderson (piano), Mike Reed (drums) and Jon Williams (bass, accordion) - to form The Lucky Ones.

Bringing together classic songcraft with a contemporary, guitar-led band sound, The Lucky Ones have drawn comparisons to artists including Paul Westerberg, Freedy Johnston and the Old 97s. One listen to their CD, though - from the full-tilt rock and roll of "The Marquee" to soul-tinged ballads like "One Woman's Hand" to the unabashed pop of "My World" - and it's clear that the CD is entirely unique... and a sure bet for anyone who loves timeless music.
