The "Album Network" says of this album,"beautiful vocals and iversity.....suggested songs: Flipside and Solid Blue ."
Formed in 1998, Lucky Town's success has been nothing short of meteoric. The four-piece band from Virginia Beach, VA heard their track "Simple" spun over 1200 times by WKOC-FM and WPTE-FM, sold nearly 10,000 copies of their independent releases, and had two of their songs featured on MTV's "Road Rules". They played nearly 200 dates last year and have shared the stage with Sixpence None the Richer, The Bodeans, Fastball, Fuel and Patti Griffin.
The band is led by the mellifluous vocal stylings of Courtney Criswell, the twenty-four year-old singer whose stage presence and soaring voice packs rooms from South Carolina to Maine. Bob McNaughton, the bass player and primary songwriter, crafts radio-proven pop songs that are both infectious and thoughtful. Guitarist Wendell Johnson pours his fiery love for melodic indie rock into the mix, giving the music an undeniable urgency without ever forgetting the importance of the hook. Kevin Kriner, drums, holds the whole thing together, acting as the rock-solid foundation of Lucky Town. Together, they produce a sound that Hits Magazine described as "happy, folky, poppy standouts that are both simple and inspirational."
Radio has already responded to Lucky Town in an unprecedented manner. WKOC and WPTE, the two largest modern rock stations in Virginia, not only spun "Simple" more than 1200 times (as many as 35 spw!), but also added a second single, "Fear", in February of 2000. Lucky Town is the first unsigned artist ever to be added to either station's playlist. Music Director
Kristen Coot of WKOC-FM said that DJs at the station unanimously liked the song. "We all agreed that it was worth playing whether they were signed or not."
Lucky Town is continuing to build their rather impressive story. They are currently booking regional and national dates, recording with producer Mitch Easter (REM, Marshall Crenshaw, Dinosaur Jr.), growing their fan base, and gaining the attention of the media. Really catchy lyrics

This CD (like all the others) is awesome. In a weird way they remind me of the Blake Babies (from way back when) but better. The songs kind of stick in your head after just a few times listening to them. If stuff like this was played on the radio, people might actually listen to it (the radio I mean).
