Album Notes

The Ludvico Treatment started in 2002 as a transatlantic collaboration between Adam Veenendaal (based in Canada) and Alex Kennard (based in the UK.) Following a shelved EP in 2005 and numerous lineup changes, the band self-released their first album \"Romanticism\" in 2007.

The music on Romanticism features a blend of swirling guitars and reverb-tinged vocals with lyrics taking influence from classical Greek tragedies and Romantic-era poetry. Music blog Kaini Industries says \"Romanticism doesn’t just stay in one place like most ripoff shoegaze bands do. It explores the nooks and crannies of the genre better than any other shoegaze album I have ever encountered, and I have encountered many.\"

Recording began in 2005 featuring Alex on vocals, though after an amicable split Adam took over the band as a solo project. The debut album was produced, mixed and mastered by Adam over the following two years.

A live incarnation of the band made its debut in April 2007 with the CD release of Romanticism following shortly thereafter. The live band performed regularly throughout 2007-2008 but is currently on hiatus while work on the second album \"Politeia\" is underway.
