ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Blissfully at home in his own alluring genre of modern-day fairy-tale, Luke’s musically ambitious and intimate songs are a combination of lush musicality, sing-a-longs and addictive melodies. Carried off in an inimitable style, his songs intertwine honesty and pensiveness with fantastical tales and anecdotes.

His creative talent, allows him to write songs that go from boasting the appeal of a three-minute pop song, to songs, which capture moments of beauty and hope juxtaposed with a dark, brooding edge.

Having honed his skills on the UK gig circuit, Luke emerged as a singer/songwriter, following his song ’Overhead’ being selected by EMI for a place on the ‘How To Mend A Broken Pier’ compilation album, produced by Mark Flannery (known for his work with U2 and Depeche Mode) and released via South Coast Sounds. The 33 year old artist from Brighton, has since captured the imagination of many renowned music sensations, resulting in his debut Single, ‘Oh Isn’t Life Pretty’ and his forthcoming EP ‘Paper Tongue’, being recorded with Grammy Award nominated Brent Milligan on Double Bass, John Catchings on Cello, Daniel Bernard Roumain on Violin, Ken Lewis on Drums and Wes King on Guitar and Vocals – known for their work with high profile recording artists including Lady Gaga, KT Tunstall, Amy Grant and The Temptations.

Recorded in Nashville, USA, ‘Oh Isn’t Life Pretty’, is set to capture the essence of summer 2011, and has already been previewed on a compilation album, distributed to USA college radio and Australian commercial radio via Minoan Music. The relaxing, melodic tune illustrates the timeless sounds of British folk music with a subtle Americana twist. Both the Single ‘Oh Isn’t Life Pretty’ and the ‘Paper Tongue’ EP have been carefully crafted and intimately recorded to include honest, yet pensive lyrics drawing on influences from highly regarded musicians, such as Rufus Wainright, Duke Special, Nick Drake and The Beatles.

Currently based in Paris, Luke is no stranger to the music industry and has collaborated with a number of international poets, artists and musicians. Recent commissions include composing a piece of music for the foundation of the exclusive fashion label, Hermes, and performances in Paris and Belgium, alongside electronic artist Ravi Vaid and visual artist/filmmaker Luc Gobyn. Luke has continued to perform his music on an international stage and has created a wave of enthusiasm in Europe and the US with his distinctive and engaging music.

Luke’s work as a singer/songwriter, composer and artist include published materials, radio play, exhibitions and music licensed to film. Through his work as an Associate Artist and Composer In Residence in Paris and Florida, and as a semi-finalist of the UK songwriting competition in 2009 and 2010, people are starting to take notice of Luke’s ability and desire to transcend genre. He has received commissions, plaudits and support from world-renowned musicians, poets, artists, exclusive fashion labels, agents and production companies.
