Album Notes

i remember Steve and Rochelle calling me while they were on a job in Denver and asked if i would score this film, my answer was the same as when Steve invites me over for dinner, YES!

i had sensed Rochelle's passion for this project and decided to research this artist that she was so enthralled about. when i got to Liviu's website and started looking at his work i was overwhelmed! texture, shape, color, deep meaning, all the best ingredients. as i looked at his work i could hear what his sculptures sounded like (at least to me). i started working right away. i was immediately lead to the Kalimba, an African instrument played by plucking metal tines mounted on wood. it was Liviu's use of wood and metal that took me there. i hit record, went into my closet / sound booth with my glockenspiel, tub of water, hand drums, rocks and Kalimbas and got lost in God's creativity. i felt a kindred spirit in Liviu, the way he sculpted was the way i composed. the first tunes to come out were "The View" and "Liviu Tune". with these pieces and images from Liviu's site i put together a slideshow for Steve, Rochelle and Allan for the plane ride to Romania. the rest of the music followed. thank you to my sister Emily for contributing her beautiful voice.

this remains one of the most fulfilling projects i have ever been a part of. thank you Rochelle, Steve, Allan, Boyle, Gary and Mr. Liviu Mocan.
