Lumena has released a brand new EP, "Ich Bin Ein Berliner".
The title track was inspired by one of Lumena's many visits to Germany's capital and aims to capture the mood and feel of this once divided city and its rich club culture. It was written after one such a visit, featuring snippets from John F Kennedy's 'Ich Bin Ein Berliner' speech. The track has a dark electro feel described as 'Underground'.
Lumena says that "The 'Ich Bin Ein Berliner' speech is one of the great inspirational speeches of the 20th century and Berlin is such an incredible city. With this track I aimed to capture the feel of night time Berlin, combining its dark history with its youthful optimism."
MLK follows a similar pattern as 'Ich Bin Ein Berliner'. It is based on the 'I have a dream' speech by Martin Luther King and throws the song structure rulebook out of the window. A very energetic track that keeps building right until the end.
'Now Dance' is unashamedly pure Euro pop. Featuring vocals by Ms K and a pumping Dangermouse-type beat it is all about letting your hair down on a Friday night and boogie. Disco Galactica follows a similar pattern and could probably be best described as experimental disco. Simplicity was the track on the EP that came together easiest, hence the title.
The 'Ich Bin Ein Berliner' EP is a departure from Lumena's pure instrumental roots and is the next stop on its musical journey.
