Album Notes

Wailing horns - rapid-fire percussion - hi-energy - upbeat music!!!

What do you get when mixing one part Swedish punk guitar, one part New Orleans trombone, one part Mexican trumpet, one part Motown bass, one wallop of jazz drumkit, a dab of high-fat keyboards and add a taste of Brazilian percussion???

A mouthwatering serving of Luminous Family Trust!

The brass-heavy, rhythm-focused seven piece band from Oakland, California, was formed with the goal to create an all-inclusive, dance and freak out-happy atmosphere with their punkified world music. The members have backgrounds and current involvements with accordion folkpunkband Local Love Enforcement, New Orleans brass band Blue Bone Express, Artisan Brass Ensemble, dub-lounge combo Brazuca Dub, hip-hop crew UnSmokables, various salsa bands.

Made me Bootyshake
author: Kevin Ang
This badass CD had me shaking my bon bons in my living room with no stop in sight. The sound is truly punk gypsy world beat but makes no bones about making sure everyone who listens has fun. The Luminous Family Trust, or LFT as I call them, are just as fun live. They know how to get a crowd on their feet and moving to their funkytown beats. If you get the chance to see them in your neck of the woods, run, don't walk!

Relaxed heavy groove and happiness and congenially unsophisticated
author: Dragonflu
Next year belongs to LFT! This is exactly the kind of happy music I enjoy when I need happy music. Nice rocking and a contemporary relaxed heavy groove. On the fifth track in particular, the inspiration from David Byrne's singing style becomes slightly obvious, especially concerning the phrasing. But it is not too much either. As I said, the attitude is relaxed, and congenially unsophisticated too. The winds are pleasantly harsh - well arranged, without too smoothly combined parts. (Madness goes Annette Peacock or something?). My only objection, to be honest, is that the mixing and the production are not completely elaborate - there is kind of a promotion state surrounding it. But the happiness of performing outshines it all. Just wating for their next issue!

I bought this CD a few days ago and already transferred the songs to my IPOD. I really enjoy the latin jazz rock pop VIBE of these tunes and I am very happy to have this great CD. Let me know when you have a new CD coming out! Peace!
