Lunchboxx checks back in with his third solo acoustic folk/blues effort, "My Friend John". Two years in the making, this CD picks up where 2000's "Wide As tall" and 1999's "Don't Go Near That Room" left off. Well chosen, perfectly crafted and arranged cover tunes like Alan Jackson's Mercury Blues, John Fogerty's Green River and Stephen Stills' 4 and 20 provide a comfortable counterpoint to Lunchboxx originals, embracing a broad spectrum of serious emotion and whacked out whimsy. Then there's that damn guitar. Truly a gifted, intuitive player, whether banging or fingerpicking, Lunchboxx has a style all his own. While it summons images of Jorma Kaukonen, Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey and other contemporary troubadours, there's that unmistakably deep rooted Mississippi John Hurt influence as well. Visit Lunchboxx at downhomeblues.net or better yet, catch him live. He won't be a secret for long.
