"We like to call ourselves Lunchin' 'cause that's what we be..."
So what can we tell you about ourselves? Let's just say we're just some ordinary guys with some overblown aspirations.
After having victimized the gamut of contemporary popular music, dabbling in every conceivable style, from braggadocios arena rock to the self conscious stylings of the "socially conscious" alternative rock bands, we finally came to this; music that just makes us feel good. Uh Huh...
A little while back we lost our drummer (he was or rather we were suffering from "Spinal Tapitititis - sorry a little too much tit in there)."
At that point we had no idea what we were going to do.
We had our debut CD, "Happiness is Tuna" to promote, a lot of college airplay and no band.
So in total disregard, we went up and did the scheduled show anyway, with just a "Djembe" and an acoustic guitar!
Needless to say it was not a "Rock and Roll" show...it was the same curious brand of self deprecating songs but done with an exotic blend of Indian and eastern rhythms, a bit of rock, all topped off with a dash of D.C. (where we originally escaped from) Go-Go and funk.
Basically just a joke, or so we thought! Imagine our surprise when out of nowhere we noticed people not only getting into it, but also having a PRETTY DAMN GOOD TIME.
And that's how it all began. Then we slapped it on a tape and called it "Samosa Nostra", and that was that.
But look at us, rambling on.
We forgot to even tell you who the hell we are...
Lunchin' consists of Alan Brock, and Sanjay Kaul (with the occasional input of longtime friend and former bandmate Trent Tooley).
What started as just an acoustic act has grown beyond that now and instead of bullshitting about it, we'll let you make up your own "show-biz" cliches.
Give "Samosa Nostra" a listen and see what you think. If you're wondering if we can pull it off live - sure we can. We each got two arms and two legs after all.
Gimme the beat ya'll
So relax lean back and let the music fill you in...and then you'll sigh and say... "Damn, I'm sure I heard a vacuum cleaner and some kitchen appliances in there somewhere"......and you know what? .........You may be right!
