Album Notes

The Lund Clements Churchill Trio is a band based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, consisting of guitar, drums and bass. Our style could be described as instrumental fusion. The guitar and bass sounds are electric and influenced by classic and progressive rock. The drum set sounds are acoustic and are influenced by rock, jazz, latin, and drum line styles. All three of us enjoy instrumental music, and this band was mainly influenced by jazz rock fusion artists such as Weather Report, Return To Forever, Bill Bruford, Tribal Tech, Tony Levin, Steve Vai, Dennis Chambers and many others. The music on this CD was spawned from allowing short riffs to develop into full songs by jamming on them during band practice. We played what we felt and then kept the best ideas with the goal of our recording retaining a spontaneous quality. The end results contain arranged as well as improvised sections. Tracks 1, 3, 5 & 6 rock out, tracks 2 & 8 feature pedal steel guitar, tracks 4 & 7 touch on R&B grooves and track 9 is our take on a classic jazz tune.
