Album Notes

At age 4 Carole came home from preschool and announced: "Mom, I heard the most beautiful music today. I want to learn to play violin." And that is how it all started.

Carole & Teresa were exposed at an early age to the varieties of music that these tunes represent. Trained classically, they gravitate to the vibrant spirit of traditional fiddle tunes from a variety of cultures and countries.

"These kids can play!" "Fantastic and refreshing" "Awed by the skill of these talented players" "destined for greatness" are what the reviewers are saying about this northern Colorado ensemble which features teenage fiddling duo Carole & Teresa Lundgren.

In 1999 the Lundgren sisters released their debut CD, Random Acts of Fiddling, a collection of instrumental fiddle tunes accompanied by mountain & hammered dulcimer, mandolin, guitar and more. The music ranges from old time favorites such as "Bonaparte's Retreat" and bluegrass classics like "Orange Blossom Special" to Scottish airs, Irish jigs and ragtime. The Lundgren's have been performing as a duo for more than six years.

Their producer and collaborator is multi-instrumentalist Steve Eulberg. Eulberg has also released several recordings available at cdbaby: "Hark, the Glad Sound!" and "Soaring" which features mountain dulcimer ensembles joined by hammered dulcimer, guitar, recorder and percussion. Eulberg has been a frequent competitor at Winfield and is recognized by Dulcimer Players News as a "championship-caliber player" having won awards in the national competitions at Winfield.

Here's what they're saying about Random Acts of Fiddling:

"...fantastic and refreshing."
--Edward H. King, Country Western Quarterly, Texas

"Two young performers who haven't given up on the magic of music..."
--Jim Foster, CD Snapshot, Fort Collins Coloradoan

"...the Lundgrens take these familiar-sounding melodies ... and give them fresh life thanks to a skilled and spirited musical synchronicity. A great sounding record."
--Tim Van Schmidt, Ticket

"I love it! After I listened to it, I played it through again. I especially like Bonaparte's Retreat and the Orange Blossom Special. The Londonderry Air just about makes me cry, it is so moving."
--Timothy Warner, listener

"...fantastic. Such an interesting assortment of music."
--Ron Oblander, listener, Detroit

"I love this CD! Especially the Maggie Medley and the Orange Blossom Special."
--Nancy Brown, Deja Vu Coffeehouse, Fort Collins

"For over a decade, sisters Carole and Teresa Lundgren have been fiddling with the violin. Regardless of how long these two perform in front of crowds, they've already proven that anything in life can be accomplished, you just have to fiddle with it until you're satisfied."
--Kurt Hinkle, Windsor Beacon ("Person of the Week" Feature)

"I found this CD to have such a variety of lively fiddling styles and great accompaniment by bagpipes, bodhran, guitar and my favorite - a limberjack [a clogging toy dancer]."
--A music fan, Ann Arbor, MI

"I really like it. These kids are talented..."
--Michelle Roderick, Loveland, CO

"What a great CD! ...the production is especially well done--good mix of tunes and good pacing--and the arrangements and the mix are just right--my kids love it too!"--David Johnson,Poudre River Irregulars & Cheyenne Symphony

"...full of variety and talented players that will surely cause you to stop and listen.... i was truly awed by the skill or these talented players, i myself am a violin player and these people sound professional, .... a good cd to listen over and over to, and you'll probably never get tired of it. Carole and her sister are destined for greatness so get one of their first works and maybe you'll earn millions later.
--Ken from USA

"What a pleasant surprise! A gift to a non-fiddler who didn't expect to like it. The variety, the beat, the finess, the unusual content. There are few who would not be fascinated with most of the selections. Those young ladies have a real future if they stick to their technique shown in this CD."
--A music fan from Monterey, CA
