The chatterbox lyricism coupled with a solidly smooth array of production, makes the album feel like Coney Island Cyclone at the top of the drop.

Album Notes

Long awaited Rookie Card record from these Brooklyn-bred purveyors of rap and escapism. Just in time for the hazy summer sunshine, this album takes a cobblestone carriage ride through an impressively varied slew of beats, while the raps run laps around the average cabbage-patch. Known for their ability to pack bars full of syllables without losing control of the flow, Translu and Richie Rreals expose their knack for songwriting by transcending the typical Rap-About-Rap formula and focusing on more elusive themes like Luck, Practice and Speechlessness. Though comfortably apt at more traditional Verse/Verse style songs, these two are decidedly at their best in combination. The snappy, back-and-forth theatrics on songs like "Lady Luck" and "Good Feels", and the tandem, Siamese Twin style harmonics on the last verse of "Venus Fly Rap" showcase what separates these two MC's from the rest of the status quo. Behind the pussyfooting elephant that is Lu...Rreals lurks a flock of incredibly talented individuals. Guest spots from Cool Calm Pete (Embedded) and Illzburry Doeboy fit right into the sway of things. The record also showcases beats from: IcErOcKs (DXA), H. Fraud, J. Howells Werthman (ne N.E.M.C. of Nuk Fam), Kevin Augsburg, Scott Thorough (Nuk Fam) and a rare Production appearence from KRAY (Iller Than Theirs/Nuk Fam). E Lah Nef (Boxcutters) drops a beatbox to seal off "GotGetGood" and SNAFU (Junk Science/Nuk Fam) gets culinary on a couple cuts. The ride's not finished. This album displays not only what these two MC's have accomplished, but also serves up a taste of what we can expect from these two talented New York music makers. - Cherokee Spotsblown
