what is luxurious? who is luxurious? why luxurious? it's a musical direction that is inspired by hip hop, jazz, bossa nova, samba, exotica, and pabst blue ribbon. it is a combination of these genres in an instrumental format we like to call hip hop lounge.
jdeville (producer, arranger, beat programmer, writer) teams up with joel stites (keyboardist extraordinaire, composer, writer) to form the producer driven, luxurious. these two have been in the industry for a combined 25 years, working with a wide array of artists such as, run dmc, chuck prophet, n2deep, stevie salas, scapegoat wax, force 7 and latino velvet. with these varying musical collaborations, the duo has narrowed their focus towards creating the lounged out sounds pleasurable to any ear. "i wanted to take hip hop into a new direction that i felt wasn't fully tapped into" says jdeville. "i've always had this herb alpert/burt bacharach vibe in me, but never new where to release it" says stites.
the two began recording the freestyle sessions in las vegas and l.a. and from stite's chilled out keys and jdeville's programming and production skills, emerged "lucky 13" the hip hop lounge series, vol. 1. the music is full of dirty drums, b-3 organs, rhodes and wurlitzer pianos, moogs, clavinets, vibes, marimbas, maracas, shakers and more...so kick back and enjoy the sounds of luxurious.
