ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
'Heavy music' is the descriptive uttered and quite palpable in the band Lyken21; a New Jersey-based band releasing their third album 'Konceptus'. Initially collaborating with White Zombie's drummer Ivan DePrume* prior to this recording, lead singer Marton Miklos was compelled to steer the sounds of the project on the thresholds of the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal genres. With the foreknowledge of each band member's variety of tastes and approach towards songwriting; a collaborative effort was set forth to engineer a brave new production. Openness, determination and meticulousness have laid the foundation of an incredible and eclectic vision without compromise.

With the help of Backroom Studios producer Kevin Antreassian (Mike Portnoy, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Russell Allen, The Number 12 Looks Like You), the material presented to us on "Konceptus" defines the term crossover, sending its listeners on a journey between the daylight and their dreams. The aggressive tracks presented are as invigorating as they are forceful. There are songs such as 'Victimized' with its punk vibe, to the hard-edged, riff-filled songs of 'Coven' and 'Doomsday Deception'. Melodic thrash influenced songs include 'Death Be No More' and 'Eat It Up', which makes the album comparable to some of the sensational virtuosos of former generations. More mainstream songs such as ‘Lost Head’ and ‘Come One, Come All’ fill in the gaps with incredible rhythm and lyrical smarts, humor and depth. Lastly, given to us to show their serious pop side are the songs 'Mid-life' and 'Wind'.

Behind the instrumental poundings are the beats of the band's newest edition, drummer Matt Biehl. The bedrock of solid and harmonious rhythms are carried by guitar player Emir Erkal and bassist Andres Nuiver; perfectly complimenting the elements of the classically arranged thrash leads of lead guitar player Oleg Lipovchenko.

In this modern age, having a dynamic 'heavy' ethos does not limit a band's movement into mainstream possibilities. In an industry where there is no guarantee of anything for the musicians, there is a full guarantee that Lyken21 will deliver. These are 12 songs of solid, hook-filled, memorable material that span a spectrum of music that all people have listened to and most will enjoy.

Lyken21 has played with the bands Overkill, WASP, Twisted Sister, KIX, Skid Row, LA Guns, Monster Magnet, A Pale Horse Named Death, 7th Void, Epica, Powerman5000, and King's X. This band can easily fill the void with Blackguard, The Agonist, Adrenaline Mob, Trivium and many more looking to melt a few faces off in the future. Buy it, turn it up and rock it out! Whether you're 12 or 45 you'll find songs that will get your adrenaline pumping.
