Album Notes

Lyle King has been performing in the Vermont music scene for several years; however, he truly emerged in 2001 when he won the Advance Music Acoustic Guitar Search. King followed that up with his CD debut, Left Standing, in 2002. The album, recorded in his basement, featured 13 solid songs that interspersed stripped down acoustic tracks with rollicking full band numbers. Amy Robson of Leftoffthedial.com said of Left Standing, “This CD is solid work, a remarkable collection of beautifully played and sung songs... This CD is a must have for any fan of acoustic rock and any fan of pure and passionate music.”

After several years playing around Vermont at venues like Higher Ground and Radio Bean, and at events like the Vermont Festival for the Arts, King returned to the studio. This time King entered Egan Media Productions for a day-long session with local musician Aaron Flinn and emerged with the acoustic EP, 5 A.M., which was released in the spring of 2004. 5 A.M. offers listeners an opportunity to experience Lyle as he often performs live; just his songs, the “superbly understated six-string flourishes [of his guitar]” (Ethan Covey - Seven Days), and “his voice [which] is the real appeal: clear, burnished, impassioned, with the teeniest touch of vibrato.” (Pamela Polston - Seven Days)

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT 5 A.M.

"Lyle King holds plenty of promise in the singer/songwriter genre. His guitar chops are, well ... more than above average, and his voice has a plaintive yet agreeable sound. King [has a] penchant for writing great melodies... the listener can’t help but whistle ’em long after the disc stops spinning."
-Aaron Bragg, Indie-Music.com

"The guitar work is competent, well beyond the urgent strumification of most young singer-songwriters. But his voice is the real appeal: clear, burnished, impassioned, with the teensiest touch of vibrato."
--Pamela Polston, Seven Days (VT)
