The Album:

"Love's Young Nightmare" tells the tale of Naomi Rossman, a lonely young woman whose only emotional outlet is her songwriting. When she is "discovered" in a coffee shop by a sleazy A & R rep, her life is transformed and she becomes "Naomi Razor", a drug-addled shock rocker. However, she is unable to escape her past or her own mind, and the dichotomy leads to a shocking and violent ending during her penultimate concert.

This CD is haunting, melodically hypnotic and complex. Layered and beautiful

When I first listened to Loves Young Nightmare, I was not the hugest fan. The "concept" portion of the album, the actual speaking part, appears forced and a bit stagey and crude.(Maybe a little sophmoric) What changed my mind was the beauty and intricasy of the music. The lyrics really have a depth and can pull you into an emotional maelstrom. It is a slick ride down. It is easy enough to say that teen angst, concept albums, and the rock shock genre have been done. They have all been done to death, but this album is a homage to the eighties and to a certain kind of rock coolness without being a mimicry of it. Again, it is the depth of the lyrics and the hypnotic intricasy of the melodies.--as well as some all out wailing guitar. This CD, no matter how many times I have listened to it, never gets old. It has finished qualities to it and I consider it a very good buy.
