AN ALEUTIAN NOEL ( January 2009)
The main focus of this project is twofold: To sing the Unangan language in a contemporary, Holiday fashion as in the Unangan Silent Night and Jingle Bells (Kuluklaadan), and to shed light on two favorite traditional songs sung by the Russian/Aleut community: Nyebo i Zemlya and Mnogaya Lyeta. Thrown in is a stunning pop original written by Lybeck, describing the island fishing community in Norman Rockwell-like terms, in the album's title track "Aleutian Noel", as well as several other Holiday favorites and piano solos.
Keeping in tune with the Christmas Spirit, Movie producer, musician, actor Ross Bagdasarian generously granted permission for the use of his song "The Chipmunk Song" - an annual favorite to kids of all ages.
Aleutian Noel: Chipmunk Song
Dec 2008 "You've done a really charming version of my dad's song. December marks the song's 50th Anniversary and it's unlikely that we would grant a license to a small company like yours, but it was also unlikely that three singing chipmunks would still be entertaining folks after fifty years. So, what the heck, let's do the unlikely...."

Lynda Lybeck-Robinson
…is a Northwest Native pianist, singer/songwriter and educator, who found her niche and her love in the wild frontier of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.
Her piano chops reflect a rich history of influences. Years of performing as a pianist, vocalist and arranger for vocal jazz groups, music theater, and classical music have influenced her art. What results is a diverse and pleasing mix of jazzy pop and oldies, added to her repertoire of rich, classically oriented original compositions.
As a performer, Lynda has performed in Norway, Japan, Turkey, and the Western United States, including stints in Hawaii and Dutch Harbor, Alaska. She has recently been invited to perform in a classical 4-hand concert in the Loire Valley in France in July of 2009, featuring the works of Samuel Barber and Francis Poulenc. Lynda’s teaching work in Unalaska was recently featured in a 4 page article in the Magazine Clavier (Sept 2008), popular among university educators, piano instructors and concert artists.
Lynda Lybeck married in 2002, and, with her husband, is raising their two sons on a small island in the Aleutians off the coast of Alaska, in the community of Unalaska.
Their company, Robinson Crusoe Music, features a private teaching studio with 35 students, a recording studio, and a new non-profit venture called the Hearts and Hands Project which hopes someday to reach out with benefits for piano students in communities throughout the Aleutians and Pribolofs. Her students have produced their own CD of all-original songs every year since 2007, and are active in providing music for the community in special holiday events and in special concerts for the senior center on a bi-annual basis.
