Alan's 2004 release, "Down On My Knee" is a powerful collection of music. It has been called "aggressively inspirational" and "intimate and non-contrived." This is music from the heart of one man, with songs of spiritual struggle to connection and love.
The CD opens with 4 part vocal harmony performed A Capella, and the song "No Getting Over You" features eight part vocal harmony, all performed by Alan. The electric guitar solos feature Alan harmonizing with himself with a melodic flair reminiscent of the band Boston, and the title track "Down On My Knee" has a slow grinding blues vibe that has been compared to Ian Moore.
He performed all vocals and all instruments (except for bass guitar by David McIntire on 5 of the tracks) and wrote the project himself.
Performing in the Southeastern circuit for over 15 years, Alan has been the guitar player and singer for several southeastern bands and is a favorite in the studio for his tasteful guitar work and his uncanny ability to vocally harmonize with anyone, mimicing inflection and vibrato. Alan has spent the last 8 years performing acoustic solo shows playing popular new and old songs, and his innovative, powerful originals. He has developed a reputation and following for his heartfelt and talented musical performances.
Not only does Alan have the respect of his fellow musicians and his fans, he has been recognized by Taylor Guitar Company as a professional musician and has had his heavily used, trademark red jumbo Taylor 615 guitar custom altered by Taylor to his specifications.

Alan, I love your new CD; I have played it over and over; I especially love "Every Day is a Holiday" (keeps playing in my head ) and "Regrets", they both move me to tears. You did a great job, your talent is amazing.

This music is truly unique and that is probably its best quality...that it does not sound like the sappy, syrupy, homogenous Air Supply-ish drivel that currently permeates the contemporary inspirational music market. This music is passionate, and based on real-life struggles. Great job, Well Done!!

Alan definitely has his own unique sound but, what's great about this cd is that you can hear the compilation of sounds influenced by his years of working in and around widely varying music styles. Hypocrite is a rare combination of an Alice in Chains sound wrapped around a moral message and Dreams is an edgy, raw sound with an wonderful inspirational message.

Alan has definitely done his homework. Well written lyrics, plush, melodic music drenched in harmony, and a familiar yet un-typical song structuring throughout the disc. The songs are arranged well and are recorded superbly. The only thing I would have done differently is put "No Getting Over You" as the opening track. A talented effort devoid of flaws! Excellent job!
