Album Notes

At 24, Monica Lynk is one of the finest new jazz/R&B voices of her generation. She was nominated Best Jazz Vocalist at the Boston Music Awards presented on April 22, 1999

She was recently selected from among the top female jazz singers in New England to perform at the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, MA. A live, state of the art recording of this show featuring Monica's interpretation of 16 of Lady Day's signature songs is available on her new CD, "Monica Lynk, A Tribute To Billie Holiday".

"Lynk's tribute to Lady Day has value in terms of both entertainment and artistry. She possesses a strong and supple voice, tapping into the pained spirit of Billie Holiday's music. Lynk receives tasteful and intelligent musical support from guitarist Peter Bell, string bassist Derek Neiderman and Jason Anderson on reeds. Bell, in particular, shows an affinity for blues. Recommended!"
