Album Notes

Lynn Asher's debut ep Get It While You Can is soulful, powerful, dynamic, and real. Lynn invokes the spirit of some of the great female rock/blues and soul singers such as Aretha, Janis, and Anne Wilson, inviting the listener to embrace life head on and full of heart.

Radio station WVOF 88.5 FM, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA is playing Lynn's version of Love Is Alive on their popular show, The Upper Room with Joe Kelley. Check out the show at www.upperroomwithjoekelley.com. Lynn is in rotation with "No Doubt", Van Morrison, and Miles Davis to name a few.

Get It While You Can, one of her signature songs and title track, is a tribute to her idol Janis Joplin. Fans tell Lynn that she literally invokes the spirit of Janis with fierce honesty. Always authentic, Lynn makes each song on this debut uniquely her own.

One of her biggest fans producer and vocalist Raz Kennedy, a founding member of Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra, and vocal coach to; Adam Duritz, Rancid, AFI, members of Metallica, Shana Morrison, and Los Tigres Del Norte, encouraged Lynn to record her voice for the first time.

Raz brought in recording engineer David Frazer (Whitney, Mariah, Aretha, to name a few), to track the live band. Four of the tunes were recorded at bass player Jon Evans (Tori Amos) studio in Berkeley, CA. The musicians are stellar. Lynn has worked with drummer Gigi Gonaway (Mariah, Sheryl Crow) for several years; bass player David Belove,(Machete Ensemble), keyboardist Michael Bluestein,(Linda Perry), and guitarist Geoff Pearlman, (Shelby Lynn, Storm Large). Raz, David Frazer and the band created a live, powerful sound. Raz Kennedy and Allyson Paige are featured on back ground vocals.

"Trouble on My Mind" written by Lynn and Raz Kennedy, is a blues tune in the tradition of Ray Charles. This piano and vocal tune was recorded at Different Fur in San Francisco and engineered by the legendary Howard Johnston. "July Rose" written by Wael K and Raz Kennedy is an exciting punk rock tune about a quirky party girl. The song was originally recorded for the album "The Iambic Dream Project, Aliens, Beduins and Leo's" produced by Raz Kennedy and Wael K. For a totally different vocal style, check Lynn out on the above record at www.cdbaby.com/iambicdream, she is featured on a beautiful world music track titled "Trails of Nepal (trail 1), and on backing vocals on tracks 4 and 8.

For the past nine years Lynn has performed with some of the top musicians in the industry and at some of the most legendary clubs in the Bay Area such as The Great American Music Hall and The Sweetwater. Lynn can also be seen volunteering for Bread and Roses, a Bay Area non-profit organization that brings live music to incarcerated or institutionalized groups.
