notes

Impressionistic and heartfelt, Lynn Patrick's new collection of acoustic music, runs the gamut from lively, mischievous snapshots of riding horses, to soaring celebrations of the precious moments in everyday life. The Boulder Weekly reported, " On the Wind is an amazing collection of instrumentals for any guitar lover, from quick-pick fretwork to soothing serenades. This is local music at its finest.” And Victory Music Review said “there is a breezy open air feel to Patrick's music, which she seems to play effortlessly, inspired by the natural beauty surrounding her on Sugarloaf Mountain.”

Lynn Patrick’s song, “Mysteriously Drawn” was #1 in the Music Choice-Soundscapes charts in May 2008. On the Wind, won an international award from the Independent Music Awards 2007. Sponsored by Border Bookstores, judges included Peter Gabriel, Cindi Lauper, Suzanne Vega, Wynonna, David Grisman, Patti Loveless and many others. On the Wind was also nominated Best Acoustic Album of the Year 2006 with KUNC radio, 91.5 and Best Instrumental Album of the Year 2007 with the Indie Acoustic Project. Patrick’s first instrumental CD, Winnie’s Guitar also won the Independent Music Awards in 2002. Judges included Tom Waites, Meshell Ndegeocello and Wilson Pickett. On the Wind is being played weekly on XM radio and all three of Patrick's albums are being used for transitional breaks on NPR's All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Talk of the Nation, and Living on Earth.

Despite the diversity of styles, a common thread runs through all of Lynn’s songs: every one of them has an uncanny knack for uplifting the environment. A features writer of a local women´s journal wrote: "Swimming with dolphins must feel something akin to experiencing the emotional dimension of Lynn Patrick´s music." Yet another reviewer called her music "… joyous whimsy, as uplifting and happy as star gazing." That´s because Lynn´s music unpretentiously but unmistakably conveys a sense of soaring freedom -- that sensation in the region of your heart that reminds you of being a child and swinging really, really high, until the chains slackened and you knew you could fly.
