(1.-2.) On this CD you will hear two inspiring original arrangements of works by Brahms.
We begin with a sensual interpretation of the Hungarian Dance #1.
(You can almost smell the spicy Paprikash through the speakers)
This is followed by the innovative LCP arrangement of the Brahms Serenade #1 (movement 1)
which has been requested by leading chamber music festivals in the U.S.
(3.) The LCP recording of the Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 (movement three) delightfully
features solo horn (instead of trumpet), following in the tradition of Barry Tuckwell.
(4.) The fiery Spanish Festival was written for the Lyons Chamber Players by Ardell Hake,
an orchestrator for “The Simpsons” TV show. It was commissioned as an educational piece
for young Latino audiences.
(5.) Siegfried Idyll was written for Wagner’s wife on her birthday. The LCP performance of this
Wagner mainstay displays both the delicacy and heroism of this work.
(6.-8.) The LCP horns are featured in our short suite of horn duos taken from Twenty-Two Duets
for French Horns by American composer Alec Wilder. Modal and jazz tonalities with sharp rhythmic
interest abound in these interesting and accessible works for two French horns.
