Album Notes

Lyrique is a 25yr old Colombian born singer, rapper & songwriter. In 2006 she was the first female signed to the independent indie label called “Cause-N-Effect Wrecards”. She has collaborations on several albums released by the label and debuted her own solo album in 2006, called “Kalydascope”. "Kalydascope" dawned hits like, "Here We Come", "This Weekend", & "More Time" along with a pre-released version of the smash hit, "T-A-C". The album was an impressive collection of songs that showed her vast range of artistry. Lyrique has a fresh, genuine and sophisticated female voice unreserved in speaking about politics, race, and sexuality. For this artist breaking down stereotypes has been no unfamiliarity but this adversity has in fact shaped her lyrically to hold her own in the male dominated word of Hip Hop music. For her generation, Lyrique is a breath of fresh air speaking about both truths and injustices in her music. Lyrique is the breakthrough artist that the world awaits for music industry to embrace.

Lyrique has a great voice and some things to say. I actually liked most of the lyrics, but just wasn't feeling the music and much of it was not unique. For example, Here We Come was a twist on Hall and Oates, "Maneater" and Here Only is a twist on "You are everything" originally performed by The Stylistics. I was very dissappointed.
