Album Notes

Leaning back against a backdrop of atmospheric pop-rock, M2B deliver catchy hooks that are riddled with superb songwriting. Michael Katz writes compelling lyrics and Marcus Wolf sings them deftly. Ballad pop-rock that fuses radio-friendly hooks with intelligent writing. Good singer/songwriter pop! http://smother.net

Signs is a collection of songs written after a long hiatus from music and a major life-change from Jazz Guitar Teacher/Single Guy in the city to Tech Professional/Married with kids in the burbs. The tunes were never intended to be heard by anyone else, but after recording one demo with Marus Wolf -- an incredible singer, guitar player and producer living in NYC -- it went so well we decided to see if we could carry that groove over more songs. I think it was a big success, but am very curious how others respond to it. The music is best described as songwriter's rock, and our influences include Matthew Sweet, Dave Grohl, Jackon Browne, Jeff Buckley, David Crosby and others.

Floating in the Clouds - Melodic rock song about feeling good with someone.

I Must Be Dreaming - Ever get dumped suddenly? This song is for you.

Before We Say Goodbye - Because every goodbye could be your last.

Alive on the Road - A folky acoustic song about some of the crazier things you may have gotten away with while remembering those who weren't so lucky.

Out of Nowhere - Ever pursue a passion that gets you supercharged, but then it dies just as quickly as it started?

Where Are You - Ever see one of those guys on TV selling some nutty business idea with incredible hype and simplicity? In this song a guy tries one and ends up in a bad spot. Haunting refrain has confused many friends and relatives.

Better than You - We all know those obnoxious a-holes who are totally wrapped up in themselves and their money. This song is an ode to them. Who knows, maybe you're one of them. Play this song LOUD, and listen for Marcus's killer guitar on the out solo and some screaming fills.

Signs - The title cut. Reality is subjective, especially in relationships. In the end, we choose to see what we want.
